Kerri Lynn Nichols
Passages: Artful Transitions For Learning and Living
Passage: “The act or process of moving through, under, over, or past something on the way from one place to another.”
This workshop focuses on the “in-between” elements of teaching and our personal lives. As we move through this unique and challenging time, we will explore simple yet profound tips for making the most of these transitions using movement, voice, instruments and technology. Participants should have space to move and bring a soprano recorder if possible.

Kerri Lynn Nichols  has been a music and creative dance instructor for over thirty-five years teaching all ages in the public and private sectors in voice, piano, percussion and composition. She holds Bachelor Degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance and a MA in Creative Arts. She earned her Master Level Orff-Schulwerk certification from UC Santa Cruz and the University of Memphis and has studied at the International Course at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria.

The Art of Child's Play

From Fred Rogers to Carl Orff, the art of child’s play has been recognized as the “work” of children. Jump, dance, and sing your way through new and old playground games gathered from West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Consider the value of children’s play, where to find it, and how to make adaptations for your own classroom.

Martina Vasil is Assistant Professor of Music Education and Director of the Modern Band, Orff Schulwerk, & Dalcroze Summer Institute at the University of Kentucky. She also teaches music PreK–6 at Lexington Montessori School. Martina is on the editorial board of The Orff Echo and is past president of the Kentucky Orff-Schulwerk Association.
